Choosing the Best Font Size for Your Album Personalisation

When personalising your album, selecting the right font size is key to achieving the look and feel that best suits your design. At Folio Albums, we offer two font size options for personalisation: Standard Font Size and Smaller Font Size. Below, we’ve put together some guidance to help you decide which option will work best for your project.

Font Size Options

  • Standard Font Size: Approximately 30pt (varies slightly by font).
  • Smaller Font Size: Approximately 20pt (varies slightly by font).

Please note: If you are using the Prata or Bebas fonts for Debossing or Foiling, only the Standard Font Size is available.

Recommendations for Choosing the Best Font Size

  • Album Size Matters: The size of your album often determines the most suitable font size:
    • For smaller albums such as 6×6″A5, and 8×8″, the Smaller Font Size is often the best choice, as it maintains a balanced and elegant look.
    • For larger albums like 14×1012×1210×10, and A4, the Standard Font Size typically works best to fill the space and create visual impact.
  • Design Consistency: Some photographers prefer to use the same font size across multiple albums of different sizes to maintain consistency in their portfolio. However, others like to adjust the font size depending on the specific album size to maintain the right balance and aesthetic.
  • Personal Design Preference: The choice can also be influenced by the content being personalised:
    • For initials on a smaller album (e.g., S + J on a 6×6″), the Standard Font Size will look great and provide a focal point.
    • For full names or longer phrases on smaller albums, the Smaller Font Size tends to look more refined and balanced.
    • On larger albums, using the Smaller Font Size can create a more subtle, understated aesthetic, which some clients prefer.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, the choice of font size is a personal and aesthetic decision. We encourage you to consider the album size, the nature of the text, and the overall look you wish to achieve. If you need help or want more guidance, please contact us.
