Understanding Spreads in Lay-flat Albums
In the context of lay-flat photo albums, a spread generally refers to two side-by-side pages that are viewed together when the album is fully opened flat. For most of our lay-flat albums, one spread includes the left-hand and right-hand pages as a continuous, seamless surface, allowing your photos to span across both pages seamlessly. However, for Matted Albums, each page within a spread is treated in isolation due to the mat overlay, even though the book still lays flat. This means images cannot be printed across the crease in Matted Albums.
To put it simply, one spread = two pages.
How Many Spreads Are Included?
Each of our albums includes 10 spreads as standard. This means you get 20 pages with your album purchase. However, you can add additional spreads to create a more complete story, up to a specific maximum, depending on the type of album you choose.
Here are the maximum spread counts for each type of album we offer:
- Fine Art Album & Mini Copies: Up to 50 spreads (equivalent to 100 pages)
- Every_ Album: Up to 25 spreads (equivalent to 50 pages)
- Matted Album: Up to 30 spreads (equivalent to 60 pages)
Adding Extra Spreads
While each album starts with 10 spreads, you have the option to add more spreads to fit your needs. Adding extra spreads allows you to include more photos, tell a more detailed story, or highlight those special moments in greater depth. The additional spreads can be added during the design and ordering up to the maximum spread limit for each album type.
