You’re more likely to secure a wedding album sale pre-wedding, here’s how.

When it comes to wedding album sales, never underestimate the power of timing.

We know it can be a challenge to sell albums which is why we provide so much support and guidance when it comes to sales. Increasing your wedding album sales is a great way to make your photography business more profitable by selling more and saving time.

Our clients have trialled and tested many different sales strategies, but one of the most successful tactics is to secure an album sale before the wedding day. One of the photographers we work with is a testament to this technique. Last year 71% of her sales were made before the wedding day and resulted in a fantastic profits.

Market your wedding album offering

To ensure that your clients are aware of your album offering in the initial discovery of your services, you need to be marketing your wedding albums.

The best way to market your albums will differ by photography genre and where your clients can find you, for example, if the majority of your referrals come from Instagram then this is the perfect platform for you to provide information on your album service.

For Instagram, we recommend providing this content on a story highlight on your page. Dedicate one highlight to your fine art albums and include information from how to order, to customer reviews.

Create a post and pin it at the top of your Instagram page so it is one of the first things your potential clients see when they land on your profile, this also showcases your passion for high-quality services and gives them a greater understanding of how beautiful wedding albums can elevate retelling the story of a wedding.

Making your clients aware of your album offering from the beginning, increases the chance of a wedding album sale as you’ve set the expectation that this is part of your services and won’t come as a surprise when the topic is approached in conversation.

A powerful question to help upsell albums for every wedding

Asking your clients “How would you like to enjoy your images after your wedding?” in a consultation or discovery call gives you the stage to speak about albums and the importance of preserving the memories of their special day.

Your clients are leading busy lives and preparing for a wedding. This question allows them to think about the end result of their images, which they’ve probably not had a chance to consider. Naturally, they will want to know what their options are, this provides you with the perfect sales opportunity for you to deliver a solution.

Discussing with clients the long-term enjoyment of their images, allows you to guide them towards the benefits of a printed album over digital options. This personal approach also makes them feel heard and understood, increasing their likelihood of investing in an album, serving as the perfect opportunity for you to upsell their package.

Use your clients pre wedding day mindframe.

In the planning stage of a wedding, your clients are in an excited frame of mind and are handing out deposits left, right and centre to their suppliers.

This provides you with the opportunity to use this mindset to your advantage to encourage your clients to commit to an album with a deposit whilst allowing them to spread the cost.

Securing a deposit from your couple, not only guarantees a sale but sets the expectation that an album will be part of their wedding experience. It also allows your clients to spread the cost of an album, making post-wedding bills feel less overwhelming.

You could also offer an exclusive pre-wedding promotion so if your wedding couple pay a deposit then they’ll receive a percentage off their total album price. Typically we see many photographers charging a 50% deposit as this allows them to cover the cost of the album purchase.

However, this completely depends on your experience with your clients. If you feel that proposing a lower deposit cost is more likely to get them to commit to an album, then do what works best for you and your business to secure the wedding album sale.

Offer albums in your wedding package to boost revenue.

You are more likely to make a sale by including albums in one of your wedding photography packages, as it seamlessly combines the product with the overall service.

When couples see an album included in a package, it allows them to envision the complete story of their wedding day and increases the chances of them wanting their day captured and preserved beautifully in an album.

By bundling the album with photography services, you can secure the sale in advance, ensuring that the couple receives a beautifully curated keepsake of their special day.

Adding albums to your packages can also increase the value of your photography services. Providing a physical, archival, printed product like a Fine Art Album in your offering can differentiate you from other photographers who only offer digital files.
